Just pretend it’s Monday. To me, it still feels like Monday anyways.
So what are we eating this week?
Let me tell you a little something about my life…it’s nuts! I don’t get weekends off very often thanks to the second job. When I do get a weekend off, it usually involves travel. Have any idea what I am probably (I say probably because I haven’t gotten my schedule for next week yet) doing this weekend?
Travel makes menu planning a little easier but dieting a little harder.
Monday – Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup and Apple Slices
Tuesday – Poor Man’s
Thursday – Spaghetti
Friday – Ham and Bean Soup and Cornbread
Saturday – Traveling
Sunday – Traveling
Now I realize, looking at the above menu, it doesn’t really look like I’m dieting. But most of my dieting efforts are focused right now on portion control and counting calories. If I have a dinner that is high in calories (like Poor Man’s – please don’t ask, it’s the hubby’s contribution to the menu and it’s on the menu every week) then I compensate throughout the day with lower calorie intake and more exercise.
I am, by no means, an expert but my life is too hectic and my wallet is too empty to completely switch over all our meals to something healthier, so I’m making the small changes.
For instance, BJ’s sells whole grain pasta that averages out to about $.20 more per box than what I pay right now. That’s not too bad. I can find $.20 to be a little healthier. I’ll let you know a little secret: I actually like whole grain pasta better. For me, it’s overcook-proof!

No, I’m not talking about another blog revamp…per se.
I have a crazy life and I do a lot. I think you should all get to read about it…all.
So what am I doing this year?
I have two main resolutions:
1. Loose weight.
2. Find more Mommy & Daddy time.
Yes, loose weight is so typical. But I think these are two big issues every mother deals with, so I’m going to share (as much as I can) my plans, goals, strategy, and any other detail I can come up with.
I am a Mama on a Revolution!
First things first: Meal Plan Mondays will occur EVERY Monday. That’s right. I’ll get my meal plans for the week posted every Monday. Hopefully, this will help encourage others to join in with me or give some ideas for yummy, delicious, not so bad for you meals.
You’ll get to hear about the workouts I’m doing – what is working, what isn’t. Thrilling, I know!
Date nights. We don’t have a lot of free time or a lot of money. So our dates are going to take some creativity! Wait until you see what I come up with!
And with that, I bid you all a fond welcome to 2012! A new year, and a new me!
From my family to yours, Happy Holidays and best of luck in the New Years!
